Space Opera Final Playtest

It’s the Final Playtest! (Do do do do do!)

Hold onto your helmets and boots, this is the last chance for you to playtest Space Opera ahead of the June premiere! Experience a full preview of facilitated gameplay, collaborate through story, form bonds, save worlds, and break bread with intergalactic comrades, all in just 6 hours.

Space Opera is an innovative and radical combination of tabletop roleplaying games, democratic organizing practice, and theatrical spectacle, testing your very ability to work together in order to thwart existential consequences. Planets revolt, wonders appear, governments crumble, and you roll the dice. The fate of the universe hangs in the balance!

Okay, those are all words, but what will I actually be doing?

Imagine this! (video from our last major playtest) but without all the fancy lights, props, and performance moments. You'll have to wait until the June premiere to get all that theatrical goodness ;)

Is any prior knowledge of Space Opera or of roleplaying games required?

Absolutely not! All parts of the rules will be explained and it's deeply important to us to welcome players who aren't coming from a gaming background. This is for you if you're a gamer, but also if you enjoy experimental and interactive theatrical experiences, care about democratic practice and cooperation, love sci-fi, care about working together towards a better world, etc. etc. You are welcome at our table.

ATTENDANCE NOTE:

Due to our playtesting needs, we need to limit players coming late and leaving early for this event. If you want to attend but are not available for the full time, you are welcome to reach out to info@obvious-agency.com to chat with us about whether attendance still makes sense.

SUNDAY APRIL 13TH — 1PM - 7PM @ ARCH STREET MEETING HOUSE

ACCESS INFO

• Participants will be required to take a COVID rapid test and mask while indoors at this event. Tests and masks provided by Obvious Agency.

• Arch Street Meeting House is fully ADA accessible.

• The venue has 2 single-occupancy gender-neutral restrooms on the same floor as the event space.

• Weather allowing, the catered meal will take place outside.

• Arch Street Meeting House is at the corner of Arch Street and 4th Street. The Meeting House entrance door is at the center of the north side of the building (facing Arch Street).

• Paid street parking and multiple paid parking lots are available in the area. On Sundays some street parking is free but be sure to check signage.

• The building is a short walk from the 2nd and Market stop on the L subway line, and falls directly on the 48 bus route.
